Allen "Butch" Eugene Watkins

Allen “Butch” Eugene Watkins, 71, of Moscow Mills, Missouri, entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at his residence in Moscow Mills, Missouri. He was born on February 16, 1953 in Louisiana, Missouri and was the son of the late Royce Eugene Watkins, Jr. and Ruby June (Dodson) Watkins. Butch was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Lee Houchins on April 15, 1989 in Elsberry, Missouri and to this union they shared two sons and one daughter. Butch graduated high school from Elsberry High School in 1971. He served his country in the United Staes Navy from 1971 until he was honorably discharged in 1975. Butch worked for Carl Gladney in parts, at the Lincoln County R-III School District and the Lincoln County Courts. He was a member of the American Legion Post #94 and Harvester Christian Church in Troy, Missouri. Butch liked fishing and tinkering in his garage. He valued the time he spent with his family and his grandchildren were his world. Butch is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Virginia “Ginny” Watkins of Moscow Mills, MO; two sons and one daughter: Charles C. Watkins and fiancé Jennifer Thurman of Troy, MO, Michelle M. Broyles and husband Jason of Moscow Mills, MO and Erick Watkins; one sister, Dorla Watkins of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren: Liam Watkins, Aiden Watkins, Hayley Broyles, Brent Thurman and Devin Thurman; one greatgrandchild: Chase Thurman; one sister-in-law, Charolotte Rowell and husband Joe of Louisiana, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Royce E. Watkins, Jr. and Ruby J. Watkins; one brother, Dennis Watkins; one sister, Dena Watkins; one grandson, Joshua Broyles; two nieces: Abigail Graham and Jessica Dolbeare. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Harvester Christian Church located at 43 Front Street Troy, MO. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Harvester Church in Troy, MO.
