Alvira A. Roettger

Alvira A. Roettger, 96, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence in Troy, Missouri. Alvira was born on May 20, 1924 in Old Monroe, Missouri, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Dreisewerd) Burkemper. She was united in marriage to Charles J. Roettger on April 12, 1947 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located in Old Monroe, Missouri and to this union three sons and three daughters were born. Alvira was a homemaker and caring for her family was her priority in life. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, Missouri. Alvira was a member of St. Ann’s Sodality and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary. In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing pinochle. She was an amazing cook, who was known for her banana cake, coffee cake, pickles and creme puffs. Alvira attended several of her grandchildren activities over the years. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and she was known for her after school snacks of corn curls, ice cream and kool aide. Alvira was a mom and grandma to many, she accepted everyone in her family as her own. She was the best mom, who had the most caring heart and a twinkle in her eyes that spoke volumes, with a smile that would light up a room. She is survived by two sons, three daughters and one daughter-in-law: Dale Roettger and wife Sally of Troy, MO, Randy Roettger and wife Jerri Sue of Troy, MO, Mary Ellen Watson and husband Charles of Troy, MO, Elaine Leahey and husband James of Grapevine, TX, Julie Harding and husband Dexter of Winfield, MO and Jill Roettger of Troy; one sister, Viola Kientzy of Silex, MO; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Alice Roettger, Mary Ann Hakenwerth (Melvin), Janice Amptmann and Alice Roettger; twenty grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and another on the way, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles J. Roettger, one son, Gary Roettger, seven sisters, three brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Family and Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at KEMPER- KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379.
