Charles "Charlie" Henry Wing

Charles “Charlie” Henry Wing, 92, of Troy, Missouri, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother of Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, surrounded by his family in Troy, Missouri. He was born on October 6, 1930, in Mashek, Missouri, and was the son of the late Henry and Mamie (Shramek) Wing. Charlie was united in marriage to Charlotte (nee Lenk) Creech on February 27, 1965, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, Missouri, and together they had eight children. Charlie graduated from Buchanan High in 1949. After completing high school, he went to work at the Brown Heel Factory. He then worked for most of his career at H.W. Gossard, and also owned and operated his own business working on sewing machines. He later retired from Harcourt, Brace and Jovanovich. Charlie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, Missouri. He looked forward to throwing horseshoes with the Knights of Columbus and in various tournaments. Charlie liked fishing and hunting for deer, squirrels, rabbits, mushrooms and blackberries. He was known for always tinkering on various projects and could fix anything. He enjoyed making homemade pickles and sauerkraut. He was an easy going, kind, loveable and humble man. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Charlotte Wing of Troy, MO; three sons and four daughters: Steven Wing (Monique) of Troy, MO, Debra Reading (David) of Eolia, MO, Larry Creech (Mary) of Troy, MO, Mary Gilmore (Doug) of St. Charles, MO, Sharon Luebbert (Robert Voss) of Naples, FL, Karen Barks (Tim) of Jackson, MO and Ricky Wing of Troy, MO; one sister, Grace Bright of Troy, MO; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one daughter, Vicki Abercrombie and her husband Rick, one daughter-in-law, Carrie Wing, one great-grandson, and one great-great grandson. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 100 Thompson Drive Troy, MO 63379. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, MO. Interment will be held at the Mashek Cemetery in Mashek, MO.
