Jessie L. Green

Jessie L. Green, 62, of Troy, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, Missouri. Jessie was born on July 25, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri a son to the late Herman Green, Sr. and Mary Louise Green, he was one of thirteen children. Jessie was united to the love of his life Renee (Myers) on November 11, 2011 in Clarksville, Missouri. Jessie graduated from the Troy Buchanan High School in 1974, entered the United States Marine Corps in 1974 and was honorably discharged in 1978. Fresh out of the military he started his DJ services called Lil Dr. “J’s” Productions which many of us knew and loved. Jessie was eager to begin his career with Cuivre River Electric Cooperative in Troy on June 16, 1986 as a Lineman and then later became a Locator, he retired on June 1, 2016. Jessie was a member of the Troy Elks Lodge #2805, Wright City Men’s Society and the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Troy, Missouri, where he served as an usher. He took great pride in maintaining his lawn, weed eating daily and taking care of his pond. Jessie enjoyed his daily visits to Walmart and the time he spent with his family, especially cooking on his big ole smoker. During the summer you could find him umpiring the slow pitch softball games at the Knights of Columbus ballfields in Troy, MO. Jessie’s contagious smile and gentle bear hugs will be deeply missed. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Renee Green of Troy, MO; two sons and four daughters: Jessie Green Jr (Antoinette) of CA, Tiffany Goggans (Sean) of Wentzville, MO, LaToya Steward of Troy, MO, Natalie Green of O’Fallon, MO, Nicole Green of Miami, FL and Jerel Green of Baytown, TX; one brother: George Green and wife Annie of Winfield, MO; two sisters: Vera White and husband Louis of Troy, MO and Sandy Ray of Coppell, TX; bonus children: Michael Myers (Christina) of Quincy, IL, Nicole Hufty (Adam) of Warrensburg, MO and Jeff Myers (Mel) of Bowling Green, MO; ten grandchildren: Jordan, Aniyah, Mark, Tre, Jermaine, Aaliyah, Tierra, Telia, Liam and Isiah; two great-grandchildren: Ryder and Kamryn; eight bonus grandchildren: Madison, Aubrey, Koby, Ceara, Ashton, Katriona, Kaden and Nick; one aunt: Minnie “Precious” Cherry of MS; sisters: Betty Jean Cockrell (Larry) St. Charles, MO and Dorothy Young of Chicago, IL; numerous sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman, Sr. and Mary Louise Green; five brothers: Homer, Herman, Jr., Oscar, Benjamin and Charles; four sisters: Mary Walls, Lillie Ecford, Florence Green and Annie Green, one niece Pam Green, nephews: Stan Ecford, Eric Sydnor and Otis Green. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. An additional visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 with the service being held at 1:00 p.m. at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel in Troy, MO. Interment will be held at the Troy City Cemetery in Troy, Missouri.
