Leona Marie Finger

Leona Marie Finger, 82, of Troy, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 in Troy, Missouri. She was born on October 18, 1940 in Moscow Mills, Missouri the daughter of the late Edward H. and Mary Margaret (Schieffer) Twellman. Marie graduated from Buchanan High School in 1958. She met the love of her life James M. Finger, they married on July 18, 1959 at the First Christian Church in Troy, Missouri and together they welcomed one son and two daughters. In Marie’s earlier years she worked for Wagner Electric, IGA as a Floral Designer and Asbury United Methodist Church as a Daycare Cook. Marie was primarily a homemaker, who took great pride in caring for her husband and children. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley, MO and Asbury Women’s Group. Marie was a Kitchen Director with the Asbury Bible Camp and one of the Founders of the Asbury Preschool. She loved spending time in the kitchen and was known for her Apple Pies. Marie would embroider and sew matching outfits for her daughters. She liked Christian Clowning and was known as “Ree Bee.” Marie enjoyed having tea parties and watching the hummingbirds. Marie would always greet you with a gentle smile and a warm hug. She had a strong faith in God and was always helping others in need. Marie truly valued the time she spent with her family, especially her husband and the trips to Florida during the winter months. She was very humble and loved by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Merlin Finger of Troy, MO; two daughters: Brenda Marie Gillespie and husband Jack of Troy, MO and Mary Christine Surls of Troy, MO; one sister, Marilyn Menne and husband Bernard of Troy, MO; one sister-in-law, Veronica Twellman of Hawk Point, MO; five grandchildren: Bridgett Kunza (Tony), Jessica Gillespie, David Surls (Shelby), Haley Emerson (Kyle) and Andrew Surls (Caitlyn); six great-grandchildren: Amelyia Kunza, Charlotte Kunza, Dawson Kunza, Colton Surls, Peter Surls and Ryder Surls; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one still born son in 1961, three brothers: Herman Twellman (Sue), Richard Twellman (Emma Jean) and Harold Twellman. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel in Troy, MO. Internment will be held at the Asbury Cemetery in Foley, MO.
