Robert Delayne Norris

Robert Delayne Norris, 89, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri. He was born on February 5, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri and was the son of the late, Ova Allen and Ida Mae (Linebaugh) Norris. Robert met the love of his life, Barbara A. Smith, at O’Fallon Bowl and the rest is history. They were united in marriage on June 22, 1968 in Warrenton, Missouri. Robert served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1955 until he was honorably discharged in 1958. In his earlier years, he worked at TWA in baggage claims and retired as a manager with Jehling Hardward Store after many years of dedication. He most recently was a courier with Peoples Bank and Trust. Robert was a brother at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Troy. He was very sharp when it came to his book work. Robert collected coins, war planes, and warships. He valued the time he spent with his family and looked forward to their yearly trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. Robert was a funny guy, and he loved to read the Sunday funnies. His gentle smile will be missed. Robert is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Norris of Troy, MO; two sons and two daughters: Darrin Norris and wife Cathy of Marthasville, MO, Velina Purler of O’Fallon, MO, Michelle Nantel and husband Gilbert of Hannibal, MO and Robert Norris, Jr. of Warrenton, VA; siblings: Richard Norris, Diane Penrod and Paul Norris; grandchildren: Toni Purler, Jill Purler, Nick Purler, Stephen Nantel, Chris Nantel, Craig Nantel, Ashley Nantel, Cody Kellison, Eric Parton, Jarret Dax Norris and Colton Norris; sixteen great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ova and Ida Norris, two sons: Ricky Delayne Norris and Randal Ova Norris and one grandson, Jarod Alan Scott.
