Rose Mary Peery

Rose Mary Peery, 67, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at her residence in Troy, Missouri. She was born on April 23, 1957 in Troy, Missouri and was the daughter of Robert Melvin and Elizabeth “Betty” Jeanne (Kick) Moritz, Sr. Rose was united in marriage to Larry Peery on July 30, 1992 on the Courthouse Steps in Troy, Missouri. Rose graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1975. She worked at the family business R&N Moritz Stations in Troy and retired after 30 years of dedication as a bus driver from the Lincoln County Troy R-III School District Transportation Department. Rose held a special place in her heart for her horses and her dogs. Even in her earlier years she was known for her barrel racing. She was a member of the Good Old Days, MGRA, MRBRA, Gateway Saddle Club and Back Country Horseman. Rose spent countless hours on the back of her horses, surrounded by her family and friends. They visited many trails in Missouri, she enjoyed the Cuivre River State Park, Eminence and Cross Country Trails. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her world. Rose was her grandchildren’s #1 fan, she could be found on the sidelines of most of the baseball games, soccer games, horse shows and school activities. She looked forward to the memories she made with her family horseback riding, camping, and fishing. Rose had the best outlook on life and could find the positive in everything. She was always lending a helping hand, with a smile on her face and was known as a mom to many. Rose is survived by her loving husband, Larry Peery of Troy, MO; one son and one daughter: Dusty Brooks of Frankford, MO and Tara Edwards (Patrick) of Troy, MO; two step-children: Jimmy Gardner of Montgomery City, MO and Jackie Palmer of AL; two sisters: Katherine Pyke (Tim) of O’Fallon, MO and Carol Phillips (Don) O’Fallon, MO; three grandchildren: Nicholle, Wyatt and Harley Rose; nieces, nephews, cousins, her horses and her dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Melvin and Elizabeth “Betty” Jeanne (Kick) Moritz, Sr. and one brother, Robert Melvin Moritz, Jr. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Horse Arena located at 3 Fairgrounds Circle Troy, MO 63379. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Horse Arena in Troy, MO.
