Roy Morse

Roy Morse, 73, passed from life at his residence in Edina, Missouri August, 8, 2019 with his loving wife Patricia of Edina at his side. He was born on December 9, 1945 in Moscow Mills, Missouri a son of Dewey Alvin and Edna Lee (Twellman) Morse. Roy was united in marriage with the love of his life, Patricia, on May 3, 1969 at Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills, Missouri. To this union 4 children were born. Roy attended elementary school in Moscow Mills and graduated from Troy Buchanan High School. Roy developed an interest in farming at an early age and was actively engaged in that occupation prior to graduating from high school. Following graduation, he attended Tech School in Kansas city for one year and then returned to Lincoln County. He purchased his first farm in 1969. Roy enjoyed attending auctions and often went home with a lot of “treasures”. Playing cards, especially pinochle was a favorite activity along with hunting and reading non-fiction books about war and history. His favorite meal was popcorn and homemade ice cream. Roy was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a 10-year member of the Arbor Day Celebration, a Century 4-H family member and a member of the Republican National Committee. Roy is survived by his wife Patricia of Edina, two daughters and one son: Deirdre Lynn Martin (Shane) of Eolia, Missouri, Shadrach Daniel Morse (Melinda) of Winfield and Kirsty Marie Gamble (Michael) Silex, Missouri; one brother: Dennis Dale Morse (Sue) of Trenton, Missouri one sister-in-law; Joyce Jordon (Harold) of Troy, Missouri; one brother-in-law: Michael Raymond Somers (Karen) of Troy, Missouri; thirteen (13) grandchildren: Michael Somers, Jr, Daniel Allen Somers, James Alexander Somers of Silex, Missouri; Shaylen Noelle Martin, Kyle Richard Martin, Lucas Shane Martin, Danika Joy Martin of Eolia, Missouri, Brendon Lane Morse, Lillian RoseMarie Gamble, Breanna Fay Gamble, Liam Michael Gamble of Silex, Missouri, Colin Nicholas Morse and Avah Nicole Morse of Winfield, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Edna Morse and one son, Michael Lee Somers, Sr. Friends and family will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street, Troy, MO 63379. A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Frieden’s United Church of Christ located at 980 Main Street in Moscow Mills, MO.
