Arline Delores Bender

Arline Delores Bender, 87, of Troy, Missouri went home to the Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017 at her residence in Troy, Missouri. She was born on July 13, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Samuel Ellis and Martha Ellen (Taylor) Wheeler. Arline was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harry Eldon Bender on December 6, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union five children were born. Arline worked as a waitress at the family restaurant, Silver Front, and later went to work at Harper and Row. She was a very active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she spent countless hours helping with the food pantry, cooking for Asbury Bible Camp and quilting. She was also a member of the Extension Club. Arline was the queen of yard sales. She enjoyed playing a good game of cards and spoiling her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Rosemary Ellen Cope of Troy, MO, Carol Ann Ghan (Bob) of Troy, MO, Virgil Lee Bender (Angie) of Troy, MO and Susan Lea Parsons (Kevin) of Troy, MO; eleven wonderful grandchildren: Tina Bender (Jovonna), Jackie Cope (Kim), Tracie Tiffany (Jeff), Stephanie Riley, Lisa Cope (Lonnie Brawley), Roger Eddy (Julie), Luke Eddy, Leslie Schlote (Chuck), Mike Eckard (Charlee), Ed Parsons and Chase Parsons; fifteen great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her church family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel E. and Martha E. Wheeler, her husband, Harry Eldon Bender, one son, Harry Oscar Bender and siblings: Samuel E. Wheeler, Mildred Mueller and Raymond Wheeler. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at the Asbury United Methodist Church located at 2241 State Hwy W Foley, MO 63347. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley, MO. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Catterton and Pastor Jack Gillespie. Interment will be held at the Asbury Cemetery in Foley, MO.
