August “Gus” Spencer Hanke, 75, of Troy, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born on November 6, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Elmer August Marion and Dorothy Lillian (McCambell). He was united in marriage to Pamela “Pam” Faye Sabatino on February 4, 1960 in Berkley, Missouri. To this union two sons were born. Gus was a boilermaker at McDonnell Douglas and retired after 33 years. He was a member of the Winfield Masonic Lodge #682. Gus enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, racing and mowing the yard. He was a hardworking man, who loved his family. Gus was a loving dad, grandpa and great-pawpaw. Gus is survived by his two sons, Dwain Hanke (Celene) of Troy, MO and Brett Hanke (Carrie) Troy, MO; siblings, Jack Hanke (Margie) of O’Fallon, MO and Ginger Edwards (Bob) of Glasgow, KY; five grandchildren, Shawnna, Tyler, Dylan, Shayna and Simantha; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Laine; nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pam Hanke on October 13, 2009. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Home/ Troy Chapel. Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel.
