Helen Elizabeth Crank Baugh, 97, of New Florence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at the New Florence Nursing and Care Center in New Florence. Helen was born January 8, 1918 in Mexico, Missouri to Elizabeth Frances Swinney Crank and James Louis Crank. She lived in the railroad town of Frances until almost 5 years old. Her family then moved to New Truxton in 1922. Helen attended grade school at New Truxton and Truxton and high school at Truxton, Hawk Point and graduated from Bellflower High School in 1935. She worked at the Agriculture Adjustment Agency in Warrenton, worked several Christmases at Mattingly Brothers store in Troy, and taught school at Wells. Helen was an accomplished piano player. She played for her church and gave private piano lessons in her home for many years. She was a member of the Truxton Zion United Methodist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7560 of Hawk Point. On June 1, 1947 she married Omar Olen Baugh of Bellflower, Missouri. They made their home in New Truxton with the exception of one year in St. Louis, Missouri. Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, her mother, father and step father, Elmer Stebbins. Survivors include three nieces and a nephew: Charlotte Breakfield of Truxton, Muriel Kaiser of Jonesburg, and Judy Roberts and Thomas (Cecilia) Baugh of Hallsville, who cared for her in her years of failing health. Other survivors include a cousin, John Brown of Racine, Wisconsin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. We would like to offer a special thank you for the care and love that Aunt Helen received from the staff of New Florence Nursing and Care Center and AmHeart Hospice of Troy. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Truxton Zion Cemetery.
