Lucy "Marie" Pittman

Lucy “Marie” Pittman, 94, of Foley, formerly of Overland, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her residence in Foley, Missouri. She was born on October 19, 1927 in St. Charles, Missouri to Delmar and Eleanor (Hesskamp) Dunn. Marie was united in marriage to Eulis “Bud” Ray Pittman on March 2, 1946 at the St. Andrew Lutheran Church in University City, Missouri. To this union one son and two daughters were born. Marie attended the Wellston Sr. High in Wellston, MO. She was primarily a homemaker but worked for St. Louis Auto Auction as a clerk for several years. Marie enjoyed knitting, sewing and she often did alterations and knitting for people. She was known for her beautiful sweaters, afghans and Christmas stockings made with love. Marie and Bud met in St. Charles, Missouri at a show. They both knew it was love at first sight and the rest was history. They bought their first home and started a family in Wellston, Missouri. In 1969 they moved to Overland, Missouri and later moved to Foley, Missouri to be closer to family. After 68 years of marriage Bud succumbed to illness and passed away. Marie carried on, being involved in the activities of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and many cousins, who lived in the area. Marie was a happy, loving, caring person, who loved to make others laugh and always knew how to enjoy life. Her gentle smile will be greatly missed by family and friends. Marie is survived by one son and two daughters: Marian M. Kozel and husband John of Overland, MO, Peggy A. Hoffer of Salina, KS and Steven R. Pittman and wife Dana of Foley, MO; grandchildren: John Ray Kozel, Mike Kozel (Beth), Brian Kozel, Rebecca Kozel, Rodney Hoffer (Debbie), Deana Hoffer, Melissa Pittman Shine (Mike) and Matthew Pittman (Stephanie); great-grandchildren: Mattilyn Pittman, Edwin Shine, Darrick Hoffer, Dustin Hoffer, Rylee Hoffer, Colin Kozel, Jared Kozel, Justin Kozel, Kayla Kozel, Steven Kozel, Brianna Kozel, Brandon Kozel, Tanner Kozel, Abigail Uptegrove and Benjamin Uptegrove; great-great-grandchildren: Dane Hoffer, Duke Hoffer, Dani Hoffer and Kenneth David Hoffer; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Delmar and her husband, Eulis “Bud” Pittman.
