Mary Lucille “Ceil” Heitman, 88, of Troy, Missouri, went home with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on January 4, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri a daughter of the late Robert E. and Dorothy Marie (Junker) Brouster. Ceil attended a one room schoolhouse in Defiance, Missouri and graduated from Buchanan High in 1949. She started her business as a hobby in 1960, owned and operated Heitman’s Upholstery and Draperies in Troy, Missouri for 60 years. Working alongside her was her daughter, Sharon and taught her son, Jerry the family trade. Ceil taught upholstery classes through the Extension Services, teaching over 650 adults. She was very active in 4-H throughout her children’s lives and into her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Most of the lives she impacted through 4-H became family. This year Ceil was honored with 60 years as a 4-H leader. In her earlier years she enjoyed a good game of bowling, traveling to the ocean and horseback riding. She was a member of the Extension Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, Missouri. Some of her proudest moments were watching her family and adopted family at the sheep shows. She loved raising her big white Great Pyrenees Dogs. Often times Ceil would worry about putting others needs before her own and wanted to see others happy in life. She was blessed with two sons and one daughter: Jerry Heitman (Patti) of Troy, MO, Mick Heitman (Rhonda) of Anchorage, AK and Sharon Keim (Doc) of Troy, MO; one brother Robert “Bobby” Brouster (Barb) of Kingdom City, MO; grandchildren: Jason Heitman (Angelia), Michelle Guillory (Michael), Jared Lange (Stacy), Brent Norton (Lindsey), Josh Lange (Rhea), Kelly Turner (Shawn), Jody Keim (Kendra), Jamie Keim-Thurman (Chris) and Jonathan Heitman,; great-grandchildren: Ashley Zenk and David Fry, Madeleine Runyan, Tyler Keim, Carson Reel, Nicholas Turner, Emma Lange, Paige Keim, Alex Runyan, Vance Heitman, Jacob Lange, Lucy Thurman and Claire Norton; great-great-grandchildren: Hailey Zenk, Matty Keay and Marlee Keay; nieces, nephews, cousins and many of those that she seen as family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Grandpa Bob” and Dorothy “Great Mom” Brouster, one sister, Judy Franke, two nephews: Dale Brouster and Kyle Ruether. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral mass will held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 100 Thompson Drive Troy, MO 63379. Officiating the mass will be Father Mike Lydon.
