Maxine Marie Simmons Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Maxine Marie Simmons, 87, of Elsberry, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Breeze Park Care Center in Weldon Spring, Missouri. She was born on June 8, 1933 in Michigan a daughter of the late Albert and Mae Derham. Maxine was united in marriage to Norman Ellis Simmons on May 30, 1952 in Troy, Missouri and to this union two sons, Norman Lester and Dale Eugene were born. Norman preceded her in death on July 11, 2008. Maxine graduated from Buchanan High in 1951. She worked at the garment factory in Troy for many years and later a Bridal Factory in Bowling Green. Maxine was primarily a homemaker and taking care of her family was her top priority in life. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. Maxine loved spending time outside in her flower garden and vegetable garden. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends. Maxine liked going on her yearly trout fishing trips with her family. She lived life by staying active and placing her faith in God. She is survived by her two loving sons: Lester Simmons and wife Pamela of Montgomery City, MO and Dale Simmons and wife Janice of Troy, MO; one brother, Jim Derham of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Billie Derham of St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren: Tracey Turner (Scott), Marsha Simmons and Stephanie Simmons(Jeff Shaw); seven great-grandchildren: Konnor Turner, Kelton Turner, Sydney Turner, Ainsley Turner, Dayton Simmons, Kingston Simmons and Valyn Simmons, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three siblings: Jack Derham (Jackie), Bob Derham and Betty Thomas (Warren) and one sister-in-law, Susan Derham. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel in Troy, MO. Interment will be held at the Mill Creek Cemetery in Silex, MO.
