Robert "Bob" Frank Hunsel

Robert “Bob” Frank Hunsel, 81, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by his family in Troy, Missouri. He was born on November 10, 1940 in Gilmore, Missouri, and the son of Robert Henry and Alma (Kampmann) Hunsel. Bob was united in marriage to Barbara Kathryn Phillips on December 28, 1963, at Assumption Catholic Church in O’Fallon, Missouri, and to this union four sons and three daughters were born. Bob graduated from Assumption High School in 1959. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard and honorably discharged. Bob was a heavy equipment operator for over 50 years, and during that time he owned and operated Hunsel Contracting. He also worked for various contractors, including Geeding Construction, and Weldon Spring Remedial Action Project, known as Weldon Spring Site, where he earned the nick name “Dozer Bob”. Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Operators Local #513. The Hunsel family donated their time and efforts to the Church over the years. Bob assisted with development of the Lincoln County Fair Grounds. He was a man of strong faith, who loved his family unconditionally, especially his wife. Bob valued the time he spent with his family. Some of the best memories made were traveling with his wife to Texas, and Florida and enjoying the ocean. He was never idle, working on various projects around the house and was proud of the place he built for his family. Bob liked spending time in his garden, mowing his yard, tinkering in the shop, and sitting on the porch, with his wife and dog. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hunsel of Troy, MO; four sons: Tom Hunsel and wife Tina of Moscow Mills, MO, John Hunsel and wife Andrea of Troy, MO, Dan Hunsel and wife Lisa of New Florence, MO and Brian Hunsel of Troy, MO; two daughters: Debbie Moore and husband Kevin of St. Peters, MO and Donna Orf and husband David of Troy, MO; siblings: Betty Westhoff and husband Butch of Winfield, MO, Alvin Hunsel and wife Pat of O’Fallon, MO, Alice Mautkatis of Elysburg, PA, Chuck Hunsel and wife Joyce of Wentzville, MO, Mary Ann Fredrick and husband Q “Buzz” of Reed City, MI and Jim Hunsel and wife Pat of Wentzville, MO; brother-in-law, Bob Burkemper; thirteen grandchildren: Ashton Rivera (Scott), Kara Hunsel, Megan Hunsel, Katherine Hunsel, Jessica Winklemann (Justin), Krista Orf, Emma Hunsel, Gracelin Hunsel, Alex Hunsel, Jacob Moore, Trent Orf and Nicholas Robert Hunsel; great-grandchildren: Gabby Rivera, Jason Rivera, Hunter Rainwater, Kimberly Hunsel, Skylar Rivera, Cora Winkelmann, Elanore Rivera, and Jude Winklemann; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Alma Hunsel, one daughter, Karen J. Hunsel, one daughter-in-law, Kim Hunsel, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ivan and Mary Margaret Phillips, one sister, Linda Burkemper and one brother-in-law, Steve Matukatis. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 100 Thompson Drive Troy, MO 63379. Interment will be held at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Troy, MO. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Masses, Make-A-Wish or St. Jude Place, in care of Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel P.O.
