Walter Vernon Illig

Walter Vernon Illig, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the age of 83. He was born on September 9, 1938 in Portland, Missouri. He was married to Lois Marie Martin Illig on January 12, 1963 at the Highland Prairie Church in Ethlyn, Missouri. Walt was owner and operator of Walt’s Barber Shop in Troy from 1965 to 1977. He worked for United Parcel Service from 1977 until his retirement in 1998. Walt is survived by his wife Lois Illig; one son, Ned Martin Illig and wife Tamara; four grandchildren: Michael and wife Samantha, Matthew, Madison and Maggie; one great-granddaughter, Charlie; one sister, Pamala Karrenbrock McIntyre and husband Jason; one niece, Julie Sassenrath Harvey and husband Brian; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Glenn and Barbara Martin, Gerald Martin, Joyce and Joe Simmons, Ed and Paula Martin and Joe Paulsmeyer; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arlena (Hartman) Karrenbrock, Meldie Karrenbrock, Fred Illig and one sister-in-law, Melba Paulsmeyer. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel at the Troy Chapel.
