Calvin Earl Thompson

Calvin Earl Thompson, 85, of Hawk Point, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at his residence in Hawk Point, Missouri. He was born on January 24, 1939, in Houston, Texas, and was the son of Warren Orville and Myrtle Nona (Atha) Thompson. Calvin was united in marriage to Judith Pappan on April 18, 1958 in Wellington, KS and to this union two sons were born. Calvin graduated high school and enlisted in the United States Airforce. He served his country in the United States Airforce from July 28, 1961, until he retired on December 31, 1991. Calvin was a Communication Electrician Manager, Communication Superintendent and Ground Radio Communication Technician, during that time. After retirement he was with the Civil Service for 10 years as a Chief Master Sergeant. Calvin was a member of the Overland VFW POST 3944. He loved his family and the memories he made with them. Calvin would do anything and everything for his grandchildren. He was a terrific marksman, and he had quite the gun collection. Calvin could fix anything electronic and liked to watch cartoons. Often he was headstrong and stubborn, but he could give the best advice. His bossy ways will definitely be missed. Calvin is survived by a loving wife of 66 years, Judy Thompson of Hawk Point, MO; two sons: Steven Thompson and wife Deanna of Hawk Point, MO and Chris Thompson, Sr. of Overland, MO; two grandchildren: Nicole Thompson and Chris Thompson, Jr. (Ashley); six great-grandchildren: Sarah Headrick, Emma Headrick, Hannah Yardley, Kyla Yardley, Wyatt Barnett and Zoey Thompson and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Warren Orville and Myrtle Nona Thompson and one brother, Charles Thompson. Services will be held private at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 41 Farm Lane Hawk Point, MO 63349. Private interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery located at 2900 Sheridan Road St. Louis, MO 63125.
