Leslie Eugene Myers

Leslie Eugene Myers, 98, of Troy, Missouri passed away at peace on Friday, May 24th, 2024 at Troy Manor in Troy, Missouri. Leslie was born on April 30th, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana - Son of Willard Glen and Crystal Ann (Topp) Myers. He was united in marriage with Joan G. Simmons on November 26, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri. His loving wife preceded him in death in 1999. Graduating high school in 1944, he went on to serve proudly in the United States Army as an aircraft mechanic until his Honorable discharge in 1946. He made use of the GI bill to attend college at Millikin University in Decatur, IL graduating with a Masters of Science in Music theory. He would continue his love of music playing weekend gigs with his best friend Jack Hemm well into his 70’s. He loved the Lord and was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson, Missouri where he joined in the choir and beautifully played the piano and organ for many years. He was a proud participant in the Meals on Wheels program, played the piano in the Jack Hemm Band and was actively athletic until he was 90 years old playing tennis, corkball, and racquetball. Leslie is survived by three sons: Avery James Kayten of Los Angeles, California, Craig Stuart Myers of St. Louis, Missouri and Eric Steven (Patryce) Myers of Troy, Missouri and two grandchildren: Erica B. Hicks and Adrianne S. Myers and two great grandchildren: Lia and Leia Hicks. He was also preceded in death by one sister: Edith Lazarus Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel, 351 Monroe Street, Troy, MO 63379. Services will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at KEMPER-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel, 351 Monroe Street, Troy, MO 63379 with Rev. Dwayne Hardcastle, officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, Missouri. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
