Ronald "Ron" Harold Gibbs

Ronald “Ron” Harold Gibbs, 67, of Winfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 14, 2018 in Winfield, Missouri. He was born on September 11, 1950 in Overland, Missouri, a son of Harold Jess and Mary Elaine (Miller) Gibbs. Ron was united in marriage to Karen Bowen on May 27, 1978 in Hazelwood, Missouri. Ronald graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1968. He served in the United States Army from October 5, 1970 until he was honorably discharged on April 30, 1972. Ron owned and operated Gibbs Custom Construction for over 25 years. He was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed working outdoors, caring for his beautiful homestead, and landscaping. Ron had a true passion for conservation and caring for wild animals and his special pets. He also enjoyed working on his vehicles and attending classic car shows. Ron was a funny man who had a heart of gold. He valued the time he spent with his family, boating, going on family vacations, and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen Bowen Gibbs of Winfield, MO; two daughters and two sons: Lori Ruether and husband Tim of Dutzow, MO, Mackenzie Wilmes and husband Joe of Troy, MO, Ryan Gibbs of Winfield, MO and Jason Gibbs and wife Kelsey of Moscow Mills, MO; one sister, Linda Babor and husband Jerry of Jerseyville, IL; one brother, Gary Gibbs of Warrenton, MO; One mother-in-law, Nancy Bowen, one father-in-law, Glyn Bowen, one sister-in-law, Janice Abegg, one brother-in-law, Jim Abegg; grandchildren: Jade Ruether, Thomas Ruether, Justin Lindgren, Allison Gibbs, Jesse Gibbs, Dominic Wilmes, Reagan Gibbs, Isaiah Wilmes, Jocelyn Gibbs and Vivienne Wilmes, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Bud” and Elaine Gibbs, one sister, Jeanie Ley and one brother-in-law, Paul Ley. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel, located at 351 Monroe Street Troy, MO 63379. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 110 Maryknoll Road Old Monroe, MO 63369. Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe, MO. Officiating the mass will be Reverend Richard J. Rath. Interment will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Old Monroe, MO.
