Thomas A. Adkins

Thomas Andrew Adkins, 74 of Troy, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Parklane Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wentzville, Missouri. He is the son of the late Paul and Edith (Jacob) Adkins, he was born July 1, 1939 in Carter County, Missouri. Thomas was united in marriage to Betty Coleman on November 7, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union four children were born. He is survived by four children, Deborah Ward and husband, Colin of Troy, Missouri, Mike Adkins and wife, Pam of Troy, Missouri, Brian Adkins of Troy, Missouri and Brett Adkins and wife, Tabatha Adkins of Troy, Missouri; siblings, Sue Alphin and husband, Leon of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Carol Turner of St. Louis, Missouri, Paula Jeffries of Iberia, Missouri and Mike Adkins of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; grandchildren, Shannon Martin, Christopher Gilbert, Diana Cooper, Nicholas Adkins, Bradley Adkins, Eric Richardson, Christian Ward, Tamzin Ward, Bradlee Campbell, Dillion Campbell and Camden Campbell; great-grandchildren, Haley Kimbel, Makala Kimbel, Courtney Cotten, Preston Cotten, Mackenzie Irvin, Caden Gilbert, Colten Gilbert, Carlee Cooper, Carey Cooper, Caitlin Tranter, Madison Tranter, Roman Tranter, Italia Tranter, Ellis Ward, Harlan Ward and Noah Ward; nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty on September 9, 2010, sisters, Judy Freukes, Alberta Beavers and Violet Smith. Thomas and Betty started their family in Pevely, Missouri and later moved the family to Troy, Missouri. He worked as a shop foreman, at Creech Brothers Trucking for many years, was owner of B and T Trucking and recently was a driver for Yorkshire Rose Transport. Thomas’s top priority was providing for his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching T.V., especially, Ax Men. Services will be held private per Mr. Adkins’s wishes.
