William "Bill" Allen Baker

William “Bill” Allen Baker, 80, of Foley, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at his residence. He was born on August 4, 1943, in Decatur, Illinois and was the son of Melvin F. and Amy L. (Gardner) Baker. Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sandy Kay Mott on October 16, 1964 in Clinton, Illinois and to this union three daughters were born. Bill graduated from Deland Weldon High School. He served his country in the United States Navy from July 17, 1961, until he was honorably discharged on August 3, 1964. Bill retired after 35 years of dedication with Caterpillar as a supervisor in Decatur, Illinois and he later went to work as a driver for OATS of Lincoln County. After retirement, Bill and Sandy spent 11 wonderful years traveling around the country in an RV. They participated in various work camp programs and made many new friends. In his earlier years he enjoyed sky diving. He was no stranger to hard work, working on various projects in his workshop, on his tractors, on computers and his yard. Bill valued the time he spent with his family and friends. He was known for cooking an amazing meal and even won a few blackpot cooking contests. Bill was a friend of Bill W. and a supporter of PALS, a local animal shelter. He enjoyed nature and caring for animals, especially birds. Bill loved his family unconditionally, fully and well! His smile and sense of humor could light up a room. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandy Baker of Foley, MO; three daughters: Brenda R. Korte and husband Keith of Highland, IL, Paula L. Raggio and partner Norman Borry of Memphis, TN and Andrea K. Piper and husband Scott of Washington, MO; one sister and one brother: Sandra Rockhold of Clinton, IL and John Baker of Clinton, IL; grandchildren: Holle Raggio, Austin Raggio (Amanda), Kaylee Raggio, Joshua Raggio, Jacob Raggio, Riley Piper, Lila Piper, Elijah Piper, Lydia Piper, Adelina Piper, Nathaniel Piper and Calvin Piper; one great-grandchild: Evelyn Setters-Raggio; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Baker; one brother-in-law, Max Rockhold and one sister-in-law, Nancy Baker.
