William "Bill" E. Smith Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William E. "Bill" Smith, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bill was born in Troy, Missouri, to his loving mother, Lorene Smith Cage. Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, carrying the honor and discipline of his military service throughout his life. After his military service, he held many jobs that required exceptional skill and intelligence. Bill also dedicated many years to the Missouri Department of Corrections, where he served with commitment and integrity until his retirement. He also worked for Community Opportunities, giving his time and talents helping people with disabilities Bill was an enthusiastic sports fan who found great joy in watching competitive sports on television. He loved sharing his passion with family and friends, often texting them about exciting plays and memorable moments. His enthusiasm for sports brought him closer to those he cared about and created countless shared memories. Bill had a strong faith in God. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Smith Cage; his grandmother, Mary Ann Kemp; and his grandfather, James Smith. He is survived by his children: Bryan Silver of Louisville, Kentucky; William E. Smith Jr. of Seattle, Washington; Ujena Yolanda Smith of Louisiana; and Ciara Lorene Jambga-Smith (Michael) of St. Louis, Missouri. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory. Bill is also survived by his siblings: Laverta Cage of Troy, Missouri; John Cage (Shari) of West End, North Carolina; and Euliana Cage Sanders of Moscow Mills, Missouri. Bill's legacy lives on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. His service to his country, dedication to his work, and love for his family will be remembered always. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
